Ukraine Refugee Portraits Art Exhibit

step 1:

Students complete a worksheet researching Ukraine.

step 2:

Students each receive an email from me with a photograph of a refugee with words in the title describing the refugee.

step 3:

Students trace the refugee in Google Drawing and design a background from their worksheet on Ukraine.

step 4:

Using Google translate they translate the words sent with the refugee into Ukrainian and include that in the portrait.

step 5:

The digital picture is printed in black and white and students hand color the portraits with watercolor or color pencils.

step 6:

On the back students trace their hand and draw more pictures.

step 7:

Portrait is mailed to The Memory Project and 2 months later we receive a video of the delivery.

Sketchbook Bookmaking and Drawing

Directions:
Step one: Students will make your own sketchbook.
step two: Complete the sketchbook worksheet and add color.
Step three: Draw your sketchbook design on the front and back with ideas from your sketchbook worksheet.
Step four: Make sure to write your first and last name on the inside and class period.
Step five: After you have drawings covering the front and back of your sketchbook then you will sign out a sharpie and go over your lines with Sharpie.
Step six: Next step is adding color - completely color front and back.
step seven: Take a picture of the front and back and upload to Artsonia with a statement.
Sketchbooks stay in the classroom and go home at the end of the quarter.

Artwork is only turned in on Artsonia for a grade.
To access Artsonia go to the assignment in Google Classroom.
Each assignment in Google Classroom has a link to Artsonia.

Take a good quality photograph of your artwork so only the artwork is in the photograph. Use your Chromebook or phone to take a picture.
Make sure you crop out anything that is not the artwork so you don't lower your grade.
Each artwork requires a statement about the artwork. A statement is at least one sentence with the first word capitalized and a period at the end. Any work without a statement will be sent back and you resubmit with a statement. No credit will be given without a statement. Statement adds to the artwork. You can write it in Spanish.
